Service Information
Standard Fees and Services
Standard fees apply to orders without scheduled delivery dates. Standard orders are processed in the order in which they are received, subject to organisational and technical constraints. In particular, uncommon or specialised analyses may require significantly longer processing times.
Express Analysis
If you require an Express analysis, with delivery of the results within 48 hours of sample receipt, a special Express order is required. This allows us to apply the 100% Express surcharge.
If more than one analytical method is required, the Express processing time is extended by 24 hours for each additional method.
Standard Services Include
A plain-text email reporting all individual analytical results for each method applied, including remarks on their interpretation where appropriate.
After completion of all ordered analyses, an Excel file containing:
- individual analytical results;
- their statistical evaluation;
- and stoichiometric ratios of the elements relative to one another.
If you have a special or more complex requirement, we can prepare a formal quotation on request.
Additional Services
Additional services not listed in the fee table are available on request. These include, for example:
- ion analysis by capillary electrophoresis;
- acidimetric titrations;
- courses;
- specialised reporting.
Analysis Reports and Certificates
Detailed analysis reports, including documentation of sample treatment, analytical methods applied, and conclusions regarding the results, are charged according to the number of pages.
Simple analysis certificates are issued for a standard fee.
Determination of Minor and Trace Constituents
Orders for oxygen or halogen alone cannot be charged at the standard fee for the respective method. As part of our quality-assurance concept, we need to verify sample homogeneity and composition by means of C/H/N/S and oxygen analysis.
If you do not require these additional results, we nevertheless charge 50% of the applicable standard fee for the additional quality-assurance analyses.
Important Information
For quality-assurance reasons, we no longer routinely offer single determinations. If you require a single determination, we expect you to provide valid information on the theoretical composition of the material.
Referencing Our Results in Scientific Publications
When referring to our analyses in scientific publications, please use the following wording:
"Elemental analysis was performed at the Laboratory for Microanalytical Services of the University of Vienna."
Please also quote the corresponding analysis report number(s). This ensures traceability, as each reported result can be readily linked to the underlying measurement data.
Most of our analytical methods are described on our website. Upon request, we can provide a comprehensive description and qualification of the methods applied.
Unless otherwise specified in the order, technical materials and polymer samples are characterised by triplicate analysis.
Financial Information
The Laboratory for Microanalytical Services is a unit of the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Vienna. Our activities are regulated by the Austrian Universities Act 2002 (UG 2002).
Invoices are issued as net amounts; no VAT is added.
Invoices are payable immediately to the University of Vienna bank account specified on the invoice. To ensure that payments can be allocated correctly, please always quote the complete invoice identification when making a payment.

Sample Submissions from Outside the European Economic Area (EEA)
Please be aware that shipments of goods to another country may be subject to import taxes and customs procedures. Although express delivery companies routinely handle these matters, customs processing may delay delivery and can result in additional costs.
We therefore recommend declaring analytical samples as "samples without commercial value", where this is appropriate under the applicable customs rules.
As our complete service can be provided using electronic documents, an additional fee applies to the preparation and dispatch of original paper documents, including signatures and stamps.
Please explicitly state in your order whether you require hard copies of the documents.
For international orders, we require a minimum invoice amount of €200.00.
